September 11th, Core Brands was honored to join Gary Sinise to shoot an episode of the upcoming Next Home series for PBS. The episode was shot at the home of U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jason Ross, a home recently completed in Fallbrook, CA by the Gary Sinise Foundation and controlled by an ELAN system. ELAN is the control system of choice for the Sinise Foundation projects and the ELAN, Niles and Sunfire installation at the Ross home was installed by Southern California based eHome Lifestyle.

Joe joined Gary and Next Home host Kristin Best on camera, explaining the benefits of the ELAN system and the particulars of the Ross home installation. Off camera, we spent a good deal of time with Jason Ross and his parents learning about Jason’s challenges, and talking about how the ELAN system can adapt to their needs. The ELAN 7.2 software and the Holovision Door Station at the front door allows Jason, who is wheelchair-bound, to see who is at the door without getting up—a big help. The family had only been in the home for two weeks, but was quickly learning the system, which includes the main three-bedroom house plus the attached one-bedroom unit where Jason’s parents stay.

It’s very moving to see the difference these smart homes powered by ELAN are making in the lives of severely injured veterans. The team at Core Brands is honored to be working with the Sinise Foundation, and likewise, we found Gary to be extremely appreciative of our support. We look forward to the next homes, several of which are already under construction, and to working with local ELAN dealers to making them happen.
